How Your Debt Is Calculated
The "on your own" payment example assumes that you make only the minimum payment.

We use an average interest rate of 8%.
In most cases, we can discuss with your creditors to lower your interest rate. Actual interest rates will vary depending on the customer and creditor.

The Debt Management Program (DMP) consolidates your credit card and other unsecured debts into one monthly payment. Each month, you deposit funds into your secure CONSUMER account affiliated with GreenPath Financial Wellness, and we pay your creditors on your behalf.

Debt management program activation fees and monthly fees vary depending on the state or territory where you reside and the amount of your debt. On average, Consumer customers, in partnership with GreenPath Financial Wellness, are charged a one-time registration fee of $35, and a monthly fee of $31. This is minimal considering the amount of money our customers typically save in forgiven late fees, overdraft fees, and lower credit card interests charges.
CONSUMER in partnership with GreenPath Financial Wellness does not contact the credit bureaus when you enroll in a debt management program. However, because you will be closing lines of credit during the registration process, your score may decrease. However, over time, most people notice their scores increase because they consistently make payments on time each month.
CONSUMER in partnership with GreenPath Financial Wellness is a neutral third party working for your benefit. Many creditors support our work because they know it yields positive results in the long run.
The documents required for the guidance session are the following:
- Evidence of your income: paycheck stubs or bank statement
- Most recent credit card statements or a list with the names of your creditors, the balance, and the monthly payment
- Records of your personal loans, mortgage, and/or car
- Receipts for your monthly expenses: water, electricity, telephone, cell phone, etc.
